At Mumbelli, we take the safety of your baby seriously, in fact, we are obsessed with it. That’s why we designed and engineered the Mumbelli infant bed to meet or exceed each Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regulation for infant products. When the regulations in the U.S. were lax, we used stricter regulations from other countries.
The Mumbelli infant bed was tested and certified Baby-Safe for design, construction and materials. It’s free of dangerous chemicals and has no small parts, sharp points or sharp edges.
The Mumbelli is
Firm Base and Walls
Mumbelli’s base and walls are manufactured to conform to the AS/NZS 8811.1:3013 infant products test for firmness. The objective of this standard is to provide a test method that will minimize the risk of infant asphyxiation.
It is also believed that a firm mattress might help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) as well as Hyperekplexia or “Startle syndrome”. We used the Australian/New Zealand standard since there is no US equivalent.
As the baby is growing in Mom’s belly, they mainly hear low-frequency sounds (Lasky and Williams 2005). Other scientific studies show how the Mom’s womb muffles high-pitched sounds. We conducted extensive testing with an independent sound lab and found that the Mumbelli effectively mimics the womb by dampening high-frequency sounds with an attenuation of 10dB over higher frequency ranges. Human voices are also attenuated by a similar level, via both the womb and the Mumbelli, based on an extensive review of published studies, reducing the startling effect that loud environmental noises can have on your baby.
Non-slip grip bottom
The non-slip grip bottom allows the Mumbelli to stay in place pretty much anywhere.
We manufacture the Mumbelli in compliance with and are certified in these CPSC product safety regulations:
Limits on lead in surface coatings (Ban of Lead-Containing Paint and Certain Consumer Products Bearing Lead Containing Paint, 16 CFR Part 1303)
Lead content limits (section 101 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) codified at 15 USC § 1278a.)
Phthalate limits (section 108 of the CPSIA, codified at 15 USC § 2057c)
Small parts, sharp points, and sharp edges (16 CFR §§ 1501, 1500.51, 1500.48, 1500.49)
In addition, the Mumbelli complies with the following standard:
Flammability of apparel textiles (ASTM D1230-10 (2016)e1)
The testing of the Mumbelli Infant bed was performed by Intertek North America, a leader in providing Total Quality Assurance for toys and children’s products.
